What to Expect at Your Appointment

After checking in at the health center and going to your exam room, an LPN will assess your vital signs, check for allergies, review your immunization status, and review your medication list. You will then meet with a doctor, who will examine you.

Your nurse or doctor will provide any needed injections, procedures, or treatments. They will also answer any of your questions during your visit. Following the appointment, they will provide information on any needed labs or x-rays, and will share the results and reports when they are complete.

About the Medical and Nursing Departments

Primary care services at the Blackhawk Health Center are provided by our Medical and Nursing Departments. Both departments aim to provide the best possible, highest-quality care to our patients. All providers in these departments are trained and licensed; most also have extensive experience with treating Native American health issues.

The Medical Department is led by an M.D. and includes three full-time medical providers. The Nursing Department is led by a Registered Nurse and includes four Licensed Practical Nurses.
