Maintaining Foot and Ankle Health

Your feet and ankles are complex structures. Every bone, tendon, and ligament must work together to help you move comfortably throughout everyday life. As such, podiatric care can be a key part of maintaining your overall health.

Podiatrists can diagnose and provide treatment advice for a variety of conditions affecting the feet, ankles, and lower limbs, including:

  • Cracks, cuts, or growths
  • Injuries, such as fractures and sprains
  • Complications from ongoing health issues, such as diabetes
  • Pain, including arthritic pain or growing pains in children
  • Bunions and hammertoe
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Nail disorders and thick or discolored toenails
  • Scaling and peeling on the soles of the feet

The Blackhawk Health Center offers a podiatry clinic every Wednesday. For more information or to schedule an appointment with our podiatrist, please contact us.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

During your visit, you and your podiatrist will discuss any issues you are experiencing, along with any chronic conditions that you have. From there, they will perform a physical examination and possibly conduct tests to assess the issue. Based on the diagnosis, your podiatrist may perform further treatments, order tests, prescribe medication, or suggest mobility aids or medical devices. Depending on your condition, they may also recommend surgery.
